Four Seasons Quality X RoseAmor
Huib visited the Emihana farm on one of his first trips to Ecuador, almost 25 years ago. At the time, this farm solely grew fresh roses. Emihana had many special varieties, including several garden roses. Over the years, FSQ became a regular customer, visiting the farm often. During one of these visits, they presented the preserved rose to us. Initially FSQ was not interested in this product as our core business was fresh cut roses.

After a while, we placed an order and tried to introduce preserved roses to our customers. Initially, they echoed our sentiment. Unknown, unloved as they say. Consequently, we sold next to none in the first years. Fortunately, we persevered. By believing in the product and promoting it, preserved roses now account for a significant part of FSQ’s turnover. The kind of turnover that led to the purchase of a stake in Emihana two years ago. FSQ is now a shareholder in this farm, working with its partners to further develop the preserved roses segment. We are modernising and expanding the farm, making it future-proof. As you can see, we think this segment has plenty of potential for growth.

This past summer, we spent a lot of time promoting RoseAmor By Four Seasons Quality. The peerless RoseAmor rose grows at high altitude in Ecuador in a region that offers the perfect climatic conditions for quality rose cultivation. Thanks to our specific treatment, the eternal beauty of the preserved RoseAmor rose will never fade.

You can find a complete overview of the ‘beauty with endless possibilities’ online at www.roseamor.nl, in addition to an online shop for easy and convenient shopping. The website also offers plenty of information and inspiration about the countless colours and ways to use RoseAmor.

Inspired by BOB
Every year, our in-house florist Bob van den Heuvel designs a beautiful booth for FSQ at the IFTF exhibition. We have asked him to come up with a monthly flower arrangement for our newsletter, “Bob’s view on flower arrangements with roses”.

“In addition to highlighting fresh cut roses from Ecuador, I also want to share an example of a seasonal flower arrangement with RoseAmor Preserved roses. Combined with another RoseAmor product, our new Foliage range.

We kick off things with winter. The Christmas season, followed by cosy but cold winter days in January and February.

I settled on a gold metal hoop, festooned with black and red roses. The first example is a hanging arrangement, the second one is mounted on a bowl. I used the XL and XXL roses for this, in Red01, Red02 and Bla01.

Glass ornaments in different colours emphasise the sparkle of Christmas nights. I added a nice finishing flourish, choosing winter grey Cineraria leaves, Tree fern and white and red hanging Amaranthus stems from the new range of auxiliary material. I went with preserved moss as a base for the second flower arrangement.

I chose hanging Amaranthus for both wreaths because it reminds me of icicles. The preserved materials retain their colour and looks so customers can enjoy this winter arrangement for many weeks to come.

BOB.
Meet the team - Lars Winters
What is your connection with FSQ?
I joined FSQ as a part-timer on weekends at the age of 16 and I never left.
I have held various positions in the company over the years.
From a part-timer on Saturdays in the barn to a work placement during my studies and now I work in sales at RoseAmor.

How can I help you?
In my new role, I would like to introduce you to the diversity of the RoseAmor range, offering you the service that you’ve come to expect from FSQ.

Where were you born?
I was born and raised in Kudelstaart, a town near the Aalsmeer Flower Auction. I currently live in Uithoorn.

What do you do in your free time?
Skiing
As the days grow colder in the Netherlands, I can’t wait to head out to the mountains. One of the best times of the year!
I like to be the first one on the chair lifts early in the morning to fully enjoy the good clean mountain air and make the most of my day.

Football
I train with the local football club and have been doing so since the age of 5.
I also like to watch football on TV on my evenings off. I’m always up for some Saturday night UEFA Champions League action.

What is your favourite RoseAmor colour?
Hmm, difficult, but if I have to make a choice, I’d settle for light red (Red02)

What’s on your bucket list?
I’d like to travel to Finland one day and see the Northern Lights.

What is your favourite series/film?
My favourite series on Netflix is Peaky Blinders.
